The Itinerary
29th December.- Drive to Olonganaiyo. Meet Jonathan and stay near a Maasai Village . Short hike.
30th Dec-- Drive to Morijo. Another day on Maasai culture and visit.
31st Dec- To Maasai Mara Game reserve. Do a pm game drive. stay in a tented camp outside the park.
1st an 2nd January- Two full days in the Mara. Masai Mara is part of the Serengeti ecosystem.
3rd- Drive to Lake Nakuru national park. This is home to Millions of Flamingoes and other birds life. a sure place to see the Rhino.
4th Jan- Drive to Naromoru at the base of Mt Kenya . Overnight.
5th January- To Samburu national Reserve. This is in the north and it has different types of Animals e.g. species of giraffe and Zebra.
6th Jan- Full day in Samburu.
7th January- Drive back to Naromoru or to Nairobi . Stay overnight in a hotel.
8th January- Fly to Lamu at the Kenyan coast.
9thth - 11th- Sail in Swahili Dhows north to Kiwaiyu. Learn the Swahili culture and visit small villages. We can snorkel in Kiwaiyu.
12th- Back to Lamu town a town with no vehicles that has history way back to the 13th century.
14th January- Fly back to Nairobi . Cost is 2000 USD.

The cost would include all transportation food and accommodation while in Parks and at the coast. Not included is the hotel in Nairobi on arrival and before departure, and hotel in Naromoru plus at least 6 meals when we are not in Parks.

If you need to do Mt Kenya or Kilimanjaro you can do so after the safari. Kili is expensive and costs at least 1200 USD per person. Mt Kenya can be about 110 per person per day for 4 days

Day 1: We pick you from your hotel in Nairobi and we transfer you to Naromoru town on the Western slopes of Mt Kenya. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 2: - We leave Naromoru at 6.00am and drive to Sweetwaters game reserve.

This where there is a chimpazee orphanage and we get there in time for their feeding.We also meet with Morani the rhino. We leave sweetwater and head to North to Samburu game reserve. We pitch camp and then head for the game drive.Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: - Still in Samburu with morning and evening game drives
Day 4: -Have a morning game drive and then drive back to Naromoru
Day 5: - Today is free day and a range of activities can be arranged like day trips to the Mount Kenya and gliding for those who dont fear the heights.
Day 6: - Leave breakfast and drive to the Rift valley part of Kenya.Stop over at Nyahururu rift valley view point.The views are magnificient and its only an hour before we arrive at Lake Nakuru national park (the birders paradise)check in at WCK guest house for tea before proceeding for a game drive.The park has over 400 different species of birds and the largest concentration of flamingoes in the world.
Day 7: - Have an early morning game drive before departing to Lake Naivasha.Visit the Elsamere of the Born free fame.There will be a movie and other presentation and we depart after tea.Camp at Fish Eagle.
Day 8:- Drive across the Rift valley to the western side and to Narok the Main town of the Maasai People. Drive to Ewaso Nyiro and hike for 2 hrs to reach Olenganaiyo(the place of the Lions).
Day 9: - Leave Olenganaiyo to Morijo.We will be visiting Robert one of the most respected elders of the Loita Maasais.We join them in Dances and daily chores eg forest visits and taking care of the cattle.We will be camping here for two nights
Day 10: - Still in Morijo
Day 11: - Drive to Maasai mara game park where we stay at Mara springs camp in Large tents that have beds and hot showers. Afternoon game drive and return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: - Full day game drive with Lunch at Keekorok Lodge.
Day 13: -Morning game drive then drive back to Nairobi arriving in the late afternoon and in time to catch the Nairobi - Mombasa (Lunatic express) to Mombasa.
Day 14: - Arrive in the morning and then we drive to Malindi.Check in at a hotel for lunch.In the afternoon head to the ocean for snorkelling.
Day 15: -We leave the town of Malindi and drive to the historical town of Lamu.We are dropped at the Jetty and we take a speed boat to the island and we check in Sunsail hotel.Afternoon spent exploring the town of Lamu.
Day 16: - After breakfast we Start the sailing trip To Kiwaiyu island.We will be using the ancient dhow which are propelled by wind.This trip takes more than 7 hours and this entirely depends on the speed of the wind and the tides.If wind slackens we anchor near one of the islands for the night.
Day 17: -We Arrive at Kiwaiyu and pitch our camp at Mzee Athumanis.We have lunch and then we visit the local primary school foor some activites like soccer , singing etc.Return to the camp and have some tea and doughnuts.This will be a good time to visit the beach or for surfing.
Day 18: - We visit the "tub" where there is a good site for snorkelling.
Day 19: - Morning spent at learning on how to ride the dhow and in the evening we the take the night sail from Kiwaiyu and to village of Matandoni.
Day 20:- We arrive at Matandoni the village where the dhows are made and we have lunch with one of the sailors family.Depart afterwards and sail back to Lamu town.Overnight at Sunsail hotel.
Day 21: - We Fly back to Nairobi and have our last dinner at the famous Carnivore restaurant before flying our later at the night.

Dates 29th Dec to 20th Jan 2009:

Highlights:

Mt Kenya-Samburu-Nakuru-Naivasha- Loita- Maasai Mara-Lamu

Day 1 - Transfer from Nairobi to Sirimon gate passing through lush green Kikuyu farmlands.Meet with your climbing crew at Sirimon gate and have picninc lunch before starting the 3 hours hike to Oldmoses camp(3300mts) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - From Oldmoses camp procced hiking to Likii North hut(3800mts).Pitch tents and camp for the night.

Day 3 - After breakfast proceed on to Shiptons camp (4200mts).This is a 4hrs hike through the moorland.


Day 4 - Predawn summit attempt of Point Lenana 4985mts.You will start the day at 3.00 with some tea and biscuits then scramble up through the scree for three hours before to reach the peak.If its clear you will watch the african sunrising.After sometime descend down to Mackinders camp (4200mts) for a brunch.After some rest descend to Met station (3300mts) for overnight.
Day 5 - Descend from Met station to Naromoru park gate for vehicle pick up to Naromoru.Afternoon at leisure.
Day 6 - We leave Naromoru and head to the North part of Kenya and To Samburu National reserve.We pitch tents and head for a late afternoon game drive before returning to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Morning and evening game drives the Reserve.

Dates: Feb 12th - March 2nd
Duration : 18 days
Highlights:
Mt Kenya,Lake Nakuru,Loita hills,Maasai Mara,Lamu

Day 1 - Leave Nairobi for Mt Kenya region.Overnight at a hotel on the slopes of Mt Kenya.
Day 2- Leave for sweetwater.Spend sometime there and return to Nanyuki town for lunch.In the afternoon visit a church weaving project.A good chance to do some shopping.Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 - Leave Naromoru for Nakuru.Check in at WCK guest house.Late afternoon game drive.
Day 4 - To Naivasha.Visit the Elsamere for the talk,movie and afternoon tea.Camp at Fish eagle.
Day 5 - To Narok and to Olongonaiyo.Meet with Jonathan and Robert our Maasai guides.Camp for the night.
Day 6 - Morijo
Day 7 - Morijo
Day 8 - Morijo.Camping will be at Robert place.I feel that the three nights will be allow the guest to interact culturally with the Maasai.
Day 9 - To Maasai Mara.Check in at Mara springs safari camp.Afternoon game drive.
Day 10 - Full game drive at the Mara with Lunch at Keekorok lodge.
Day 11 - Leave Mara for Nairobi.This day they will be leaving for coast.There is time so the can either fly or take to train to Mombasa/Malindi
Day 12 - In Malindi for snorkelling.
Day 13 - Leave for Lamu.Stay at sunsail hotel.
Day 14 - Sail to Kiwaiyu
Day 15 - Kiwaiyu
Day 16 - Kiwaiyu
Day 17 - Matondoni/Lamu.
Day - 18 - Fly back to Nairobi.Banquet at Carnivore.Fly out for those doing so.
Day 19 - Shopping and fly out.
