A Mountaineering Memoir

When I came back home after summiting Mt Everest, many people approached me, asking about my life and how I came to be a mountaineer. Some suggested putting my story in a book. At every instance, I resisted the idea because it wasn’t me. I prefer spending time up a mountain or in the wilderness, not sitting down in front of a laptop to write a memoir.
But as the months passed, I was overcame by a deep sense of obligation and my background as a teacher kicked in. I felt that I owe it to future generations, my family and friends, and my various communities to create a greater awareness of mountaineering as a sport and a viable profession. I also want to instil a passion for the outdoors, especially among young people, so they can grow up in a world where they can still enjoy the abundance of nature.
As of this writing, I have started the project and have engaged someone to help me with research, writing, editing, and the rest of the publishing process. Our target for completion is May 2023. I will be self-publishing and will have both print (print-on-demand in hardcover and paperback) and e-book versions available via Amazon and other e-bookstores across the globe. Should there be any interest, I also plan to sell print rights, so other regions and territories may have easier and quicker access to the book.
As I begin this new adventure, albeit in book publishing, I invite you to join me in taking the first steps toward making it happen.
